Fillings in wooden ceilings
Wooden ceilings are classified as lightweight construction elements, which is why in many cases it makes sense to add additional weight to the construction to increase the impact sound insulation. This is usually done by placing an additional layer between the raw ceiling and the screed structure. Loose or bound fillings of dry chippings/gravel or slab weights of e.g. concrete slabs are used.
Fillings: Height and density
The improvement measures are large (ΔL’nW) and range from 5 dB to 15 dB depending on the weight per unit area used. The fill used should be loose or bound and have fill heights of 30 mm to 120 mm. The density of the fill should be as high as possible and ideally above 1,500 kg/m³.
