X-LAM production hall
made of wood
With the construction of our X-LAM production hall at the Westerkappeln site, we have significantly increased our production capacities. The 300 meter long and 50 meter wide hall has a floor area of approx. 15,000 m². Its roof structure is made entirely of wood and was constructed as a three-hinged frame structure that was cantilevered – i.e. completely without intermediate supports.

Cantilever frame construction

For our X-LAM production hall in Westerkappeln, we manufactured a self-supporting three-hinged frame construction over more than 48 metres. In one fire section the construction covers 15,000 m2. The bending-resistant joining of the glulam beams in the eaves area was carried out by means of general finger jointing via a core. This cantilevered wooden construction allows the entire area of the hall to be used without restrictions.

The advantages of wood
at the hall construction Westerkappeln
The timber construction allows larger spans than other building materials. The three-hinged frame construction made it possible to create a production area of almost 50 x 300 m2 without the use of internal supports. This offers great advantages for the installation of the production plant.
