School as a living space
Life in the community
The Mathilde-Anneke Comprehensive School was designed as a meeting point and workspace with learning islands, a reading corner and an information point. School should be understood and experienced here as a living space and a place for life in the community. In addition to the optimal space for successful learning, areas for action, creativity and relaxation have also been created.
In order to fulfil this high standard, the choice of building material also played an important role. Consequently, the natural building material wood was chosen, which ensures an optimal indoor climate and has a measurable positive effect on well-being and health. The client, architect and planner also favoured wood as a building material for reasons of climate protection and sustainability in order to create a sustainable building as an ideal place of learning.
The school is completely barrier-free and has been equipped with sophisticated building technology that minimises energy consumption and additionally supports the good indoor climate.
