Church
made of wood
In cooperation with the diocese of Limburg, the parish of St. Jakobus Frankfurt had a new Catholic church built in Frankfurt-Goldstein to replace the 55-year-old St. Johannes Church. The bell tower and the baptistery (baptismal chapel) from the previous building were retained. The approximately 550 square metres of space for the church and parish hall are divided between the group room, parish hall and library. The building was designed to be open and with many windows. The roof is also made of glass, held up by a wooden beam construction from DERIX.

Church roof
with wooden beam construction
The roof of the Catholic Church of St. Johannes in Frankfurt was realised with a DERIX wooden construction and glass. Two-axis curved glulam elements were used for the curved shape of the church roof. The roof trusses are curved, conically milled and glazed white. The corresponding metal connections were concreted into the walls of the church.
