100 years of DERIX
With wood, heart and attitude.

The DERIX Group, a family-run timber engineering company based in Niederkrüchten, kicked off its anniversary year at the start of 2026. For 100 years, the name DERIX has been synonymous with quality, innovation and corporate responsibility in timber engineering. The anniversary is not a single moment, but a whole year to look back, celebrate and actively shape the future. Under the motto ‘With wood, heart and attitude.’ the family business looks back on its roots together with its employees – while at the same time consistently focusing on the future.

What founder Franz Derix began in 1926 as a wheelwright’s workshop was developed over the course of a century by the following two generations into an internationally recognised company for sustainable timber engineering. Today, DERIX employs around 300 people and stands for circular construction, innovative timber construction solutions and a clear responsibility towards future generations.

Memories in our hearts, the future in our sights: responsibility and sustainability

At DERIX, sustainability is not a trend, but has been part of the company’s DNA for decades. Today, this commitment is being consistently expanded upon: from climate-neutral production processes and bio-based material to holistic recycling concepts in the spirit of cradle to cradle.

A visible sign of this attitude is the DERIX Campus, which will be built at the Niederkrüchten site in the anniversary year 2026. The campus creates modern, inspiring working environments with visible wooden surfaces, showroom and presentation areas, and is being realised primarily due to strong employee growth. Consistently planned in accordance with the company’s own sustainability principles, the project follows a circular approach and brings responsible construction to life at its own location.

‘The 100-year history of the DERIX Group is characterised by a clear vision of the future, technical curiosity and a constant desire to develop further,’
says Markus Derix, managing owner of the DERIX Group. ‘As a family business, we think long-term and responsibly. Our aim is to constantly re-examine construction methods and processes in order to create values that will continue to endure tomorrow – ecologically, economically and socially.’

Simone Derix, commercial director of the DERIX Group and member of the management board, also sees the anniversary as confirmation of the courage of previous generations: “Our history is marked by decisions that were anything but self-evident.

Anniversary year with diverse activities and strong momentum

In its anniversary year 2026, the DERIX Group is setting numerous priorities to highlight its convictions and promote dialogue on sustainable construction. These include, among other things:

• “100 good deeds”: An anniversary initiative through which DERIX is committed to social, environmental and societal causes throughout the year.
• The anniversary website: A dedicated platform that will continue to grow throughout the anniversary year, providing a continuous account of the DERIX Group’s development from its beginnings to the topics of the future.
• The anniversary event: a ceremony with around 450 invited guests from the worlds of business, architecture and society, as well as a family celebration for employees and their families and friends on the second day of the event.
• The film series ‘Circular Construction Stories’: Seven short films highlight key sustainability issues for the DERIX Group.

With these initiatives, DERIX is underlining its commitment to taking responsibility and actively shaping change in the construction industry – today and in the future.
