Slab formation in timber construction
Slab formation in timber construction is used to stiffen structures. Here, the ceiling slabs are designed as shear-resistant discs to give the building the necessary stability. This is the only way to absorb and dissipate the forces acting on the building.
Slab formation for
ceiling panels made of glulam elements
The formation of the ceiling panels as a shear-resistant slab in ceilings made of cross laminated timber elements is usually done by bridging the joints between the elements. Depending on the load level, the elements can be connected with milled joint cover strips (e.g. OSB strips), stepped rebate or crossed fully threaded screws.
