Ribbed and hollow box elements
Hollow box and rib elements are bonded, prefabricated composite cross-sections consisting of ribs or webs made of glulam and aligned in the main span direction. They have top and bottom planking made of X-LAM. For ribbed panels, the bottom planking is omitted.
Advantages of ribbed and hollow box elements
Due to the targeted bonding of the two wood materials, these composite cross-sections represent an effective and economical construction variant compared to pure X-LAM constructions from a span width of approx. 6 m.
Use of the cavities
The existing cavities between the webs can be used as installation space or, especially in the case of box girder elements, filled with insulation or additional weight in order to significantly improve the structural-physical properties.
