Cradle to Cradle

“Cradle to Cradle” (C2C) is a concept for a consistent circular economy that was designed in the late 1990s. C2C aims to use resources effectively and avoid waste and wastefulness. The principle is based on the fact that the components of a product should either be returned to biological cycles or further used in technical cycles after its service life. In this way, the aim is to use resources in the same way, while avoiding so-called “downcycling” after the first phase of use (cascade use).

The goal of the Cradle to Cradle principle

The goal is to avoid waste and wastefulness and to use resources effectively. The Cradle to Cradle principle has become a widespread philosophy for sustainable design and influences the development of products and processes in various industries. Sustainably designed products can be Cradle to Cradle certified (Cradle to Cradle product certification).
