Office building
made of wood
The office building of the Leister company in Willich was made of ten DERIX wooden modules and stands opposite the warehouse there. The building serves as the planning office for the exhibition stands distributed by the company. The wooden building has an open floor plan and visible wooden surfaces, creating a friendly and warm atmosphere.

Open floor
plan design
The single-storey office building of the Leister company is founded on a proven reinforced concrete floor slab. The central access zone, the extroverted and introverted office spaces connected to it on both sides, and the two archive rooms on the sides are made of prefabricated wooden modules. The supporting structure of beams and columns allowed for a completely free floor plan design and, in the left wing, an open office floor plan that opens up to the covered terrace via the window front.

Prefabricated wooden modules
with two visual qualities
Approximately 60% of the solid wood modules were prefabricated in the factory. The extension included facade, flat roof, interior walls as well as windows and exterior doors. The wall and ceiling surfaces are industrial quality and suitable for accommodating a suspended ceiling. The beams and columns made of glulam, on the other hand, are of visible quality. The modules, which were protected from the weather for transport, were only placed and structurally connected on site. The spacious canopy was also installed as a prefabricated element in the course of the module assembly. Following assembly, the facade joints were closed, pre-commissioned facade panels were attached and the roof cladding was supplemented with gradient insulation.
