Nysterbach primary school
in Lövenich
In Lövenich, the Nysterbach primary school was rebuilt and extended using wooden modules. The addition of five DERIX wooden modules to the former caretaker’s flat extends the Nysterbach primary school by two group rooms and a quiet room for the benefit of all-day operation. The new rooms on the first floor are accessed by an interior staircase.

Prefabricated
building extension
The raised first floor is founded on a steel girder grid on the floor slab of the existing building. The extending construction was made of approx. 75 % factory prefabricated timber modules consisting of X-LAM and glulam elements. The extension of the primary school in Lövenich included the installation of windows and facade bands as well as electrical, heating and ventilation installations. The modules, which were protected from the weather for transport, were placed on site. In the process, the joint areas between the modules, the floor structure and the red pre-commissioned facade panels were completed on site.

Wood modules
in exposed wood
The wall and ceiling surfaces are finished in exposed wood quality with colourless paint. The group rooms as well as the corridor and quiet room have multi-part, two-coloured aluminium windows with skylights and external venetian blinds. Heat distribution in the building is via wall radiators under the windows, which are operated by a central gas heating system. Each wood module has its own electrical sub-distribution. Furthermore, the rooms are equipped with linoleum floors.
