wooden swimming hall
In the “Aqua Mundo” swimming hall at Center Parcs De Huttenheugte in Dalen, the existing roof dome was replaced with a new glulam roof dome. Within just two weeks, the new dome was installed on the Center Parcs swimming hall. The old dome was dismantled at the same time. This was already the third dome DERIX has replaced for Center Parcs swimming halls. The composition of the team of general contractor, structural engineer and subcontractor always remained the same and was therefore very well coordinated.

16 Glulam half frame &
64 Composite roof elements
The dome consists of sixteen glulam half frames – with a length of almost thirty metres – and 64 composite roof elements. The largest composite roof element is more than six metres wide. The roof elements were pre-assembled by DERIX in the factory. On site, the glass domes supplied by JET BIK (Velux) were pre-assembled on them.

The advantages of wood
at the Center Parc swimming hall
As a hygroscopic building material, the wood used adapts perfectly to the indoor climate in the Center Parcs swimming hall. Furthermore, it is corrosion-resistant and insensitive to chlorine. The details of the dome are designed to prevent moisture from accumulating there. The wooden construction makes it possible to dismantle a single part (e.g. a purlin) without having to dismantle a large part or even the whole dome.
