„The Cradle“ –
circular construction at its best

The building project “The Cradle” is a lighthouse project in circular engineered timber construction designed according to the Cradle to Cradle® principle and is fully deconstructible. The timber hybrid office building is currently being built in Düsseldorf’s Medienhafen and is intended to show what environmentally friendly and resource-saving construction can look like in the best case scenario. Almost the entire façade and the supports in the interior of “The Cradle” are made of DERIX wooden elements, replacing other materials such as concrete and plastic. A total of around 2,200 cubic metres of wood will be used, which will store almost 1,680 tonnes of CO2 and thus reduce the burden on the atmosphere.
