Wooden Room of Silence

In cooperation with documenta fifteen, the Association of German Architects has developed various contributions to exhibition culture. The aim here was to create places to rest, reflect and contemplate.

The result is, among other things, a “Reflecting Point” in front of the Ost indoor swimming pool, which invites visitors to relax as a natural “space of silence” and was made entirely of KIRI wood by DERIX.

The climate tree KIRI is considered to be the most vigorously growing tree in the world; it binds an extremely large amount of CO2 and thus relieves the atmosphere particularly significantly. The architects’ objectives of using CO2-saving building materials and preventing the overheating of inner cities due to climate change are optimally implemented with the KIRI wooden pavilion.
