Company outing:
Tour of “The Cradle” construction site

The employees of the Niederkrüchten site of the DERIX Group were invited to a company outing last Friday. The destination was “The Cradle“, a building under construction in Düsseldorf’s Media Harbour. As this is the first office building as a timber hybrid construction in North Rhine-Westphalia to be built entirely according to the “cradle-to-cradle” principles, it is a special reference project for DERIX.

Already on the outward journey, Managing Director Markus Derix and Project Manager Suitbert Barbers gave insights into the special features of the building and the challenges in project management. In particular, the outstanding teamwork in all areas – consulting and sales, structural engineering and design, work preparation, production and assembly – was highlighted.

On the construction site, the employees were guided in groups through all floors of the building and were able to get an idea of the special construction and the dimensions of the wooden components.

Afterwards, the entire team spent a convivial time at Plange Mühle 5 and brought the event to a close with a barbecue and cosy get-together.
