Serviceability

The serviceability limit state is an important factor in the design of structures and their components. It determines which deformations are permissible as a result of stresses and service class. It is a matter of maintaining the function and usability, the well-being of the users as well as the visual appearance. The standard provides recommendations for the permissible limit values of deformation, which can, however, be individually adapted.

Vibrations can affect the serviceability of a construction and cause discomfort for the users or limit the functionality. Here, too, there are limit values recommended by the standard that should be adhered to.
