Wooden daycare center

The new kindergarten Mevissenfeld was built in Brüggen-Bracht in only five months. The new building of the day care centre is designed for four care groups. In addition to the group rooms for up to 80 children, the day care centre includes a cafeteria, a workshop and differentiation rooms. The daycare centre in Brüggen-Bracht is a hybrid construction: It consists of X-LAM exterior walls, glulam trusses and beams.

The exterior walls of the daycare centre in Brüggen-Bracht are made of X-LAM with a thermal insulation composite system. The load-bearing interior supports were built from glulam. The interior walls were non-load-bearing and therefore made of plasterboard. This allows the room layout to be changed with little effort, depending on requirements.

Thanks to the timber construction method with its high degree of prefabrication, the construction time of the daycare centre was extremely short at only five months. In addition, the recyclability of the materials used ensures ecological construction. Another reason for choosing the material was the very flexible use of space: the non-load-bearing interior walls can be moved with little effort, making it easy to create new room layouts.
