Voor de draagconstructie leverde DERIX in opdracht van de Bouwcombinatie Elfstedenhal 64 gebogen spanten van elk 22 meter lengte. Het gebouw bestaat uit een 400 meter lange ijsbaan, een schaatsbaan in het midden en een extra, afzonderlijke schaatsbaan. De schaatsbaan van 400 meter wordt omgeven door 64 gebogen spanten van vurenhout en doet denken aan een oude ijsbaan.
