Op dinsdag 18 november opende niemand minder dan Hare Majesteit Koningin M\u00e1xima appartementencomplex SAWA in Rotterdam, waarvoor DERIX de engineering, productie, levering en montage van de houtconstructie heeft verzorgd. Diezelfde dag werd dit innovatieve project de overall winnaar van de Nationale Houtbouwprijs. \u00a0Het is geen wonder dat SAWA alom bejubeld wordt: dit pioniersproject is namelijk het eerste circulaire hoge houten woongebouw in Europa!<\/p>\n

SAWA is maar liefst 55 meter hoog en heeft zijn naam te danken aan het bijzondere ontwerp, waarbij groene terrassen trapsgewijs aflopen \u2013 net als de rijstvelden in Indonesi\u00eb. Dit ontwerp verwijst naar de geschiedenis van de locatie, de Rotterdamse Lloydpier, waar van 1900 tot 1970 passagiersschepen naar Azi\u00eb vertrokken. SAWA is een project van Nice Developers en ERA Contour en is ontworpen door Mei Architects. Zij hebben er bewust voor gekozen om het gebruik van beton en staal te minimaliseren. In plaats daarvan is veel hout toegepast.\u00a0 \u00a0<\/p>\n

DERIX verzorgde de engineering, productie, levering en montage van de houtconstructie en was als houtspecialist al in een vroeg stadium bij het project betrokken. \u201cZo\u2019n hoog, bijna volledig houten gebouw als SAWA is in Nederland nog niet eerder gebouwd,\u201d verklaart Johan Paul Borreman, directeur bij DERIX Nederland. \u201cDat betekende dat het pionieren was, onder andere om samen met het bouwteam te bedenken hoe deze woontoren van zestien verdiepingen het beste gerealiseerd kon worden.\u201d<\/p>\n

De constructie van SAWA bestaat uit CLT-vloeren, -wanden en gelamineerde kolommen en liggers, waarin ongeveer 2.500 ton CO\u2082 is opgeslagen. Dat maakt SAWA extreem duurzaam. Door de flexibele kolom-liggerstructuur kunnen de woningen eenvoudig worden aangepast aan veranderende woonbehoeften. De gevels zijn gemaakt in houtskeletbouw en bekleed met vurenhouten planken. Vrijwel al het hout is in het zicht gebleven. Dankzij meer dan 750.000 mechanische verbindingen zonder lijm of permanente bevestigingen kan SAWA in de toekomst volledig worden gedemonteerd en hergebruikt, een primeur voor hoge houten gebouwen in Europa.<\/p>\n
